BreizhCamp 2025: My First Time in Brittany as a Speaker

This year, continuing my speaking journey, I had the pleasure of attending BreizhCamp 2025 in Brittany, France. It was a delight to present outside of Paris, engaging with a new audience and networking with unknown faces.

BreizhCamp is a smaller conference compared to Devoxx France or MiXiT, hosting around 700 attendees daily, with five tracks of talks and 96 speakers.

Personally, I favor conferences of a more intimate scale. They provide the opportunity to connect with others and engage in meaningful discussions.

BreizhCamp 2025

If you've followed my blog, you know I never review the schedule before the morning of the conference, just minutes before it starts. This time was no exception. You might ask why, and the reason is simple: it minimizes cognitive load. Having just a few minutes to choose forces decisive action without overthinking.

Talk highlights

When recapping a conference, I love highlighting the talks that really impressed me, and BreizhCamp 2025 was no exception, with a lineup of both inspiring and technical presentations.Two particular talks amazed me:

• Comment nous avons transformé les Restos du Coeur en Cloud Provider by Julien Briault
  This wasn't my first time hearing Julien speak about the Cloud du Coeur, and it's always a pleasure. He manages to deliver talks that are amusing, informative, and technical simultaneously. The work he does for the Restos du Coeur is significant and impactful. Watching his talk is highly recommended as it inspires and exemplifies how technology can serve the greater good.
  
• “Make the change easy”: Apprivoiser le legacy avec les Object Calisthenics by Manon Carbonnel and Gaël Salaün
  This talk was a perfect blend of technical insight, practical advice, and humor. The examples were exceptionally well-chosen, simple enough to understand yet realistic enough for real-world application. I learned something valuable that I intend to apply in my work. The 45 minutes flew by, and I wished it could have lasted longer.

My talks

At BreizhCamp 2025, I was thrilled to present two talks:

1. La réactivité et les signaux : démystifions la magie du frontend
2. En JavaScript, il y a un paquet pour tout... et souvent pour rien.

After presenting them at Devoxx France 2025 and MiXiT 2025, it feels great to deliver them again. I'm proud of these talks, and presenting them now is always enjoyable. With familiarity, I can truly enjoy the moment.To add a twist, I challenged myself: I caught the train to Rennes on Wednesday morning at 6:30 AM, with my talk scheduled for 11:00 AM. The night before, I attended a Takima meetup, resulting in only three hours of sleep. I gave my all during the talk, but the afternoon session was challenging. Don't attempt this, this is memorable, but not advisable!

The end of a season

There's a saying:

La Bretagne, ça vous gagne !

which means: Brittany will win you over! Indeed, BreizhCamp 2025 won me over. I thoroughly enjoyed the conference, meeting new people, and the overall ambiance. I will return next year and hope to see you there!Speaking of next year, this was the final conference for the 2024/2025 season for me. It was an incredible season, with 13 talks over 10 months. Truly amazing!The new season starts in September 2025, and exciting plans are already on the horizon. I can confirm a speaking engagement at an upcoming meetup in Paris, a conference in Angers, and some fresh talks to announce in the coming months.I'll continue streaming on Twitch, doing live coding sessions, slide creation, and surprises.
